“Bearing Witness” Photo Exhibition in Athens

Athens, Greece.
December 2023

A collection of unique pictures was for the first time displayed in the Greek capital. Muhammed Muheisen, a two – time Pulitzer Prize winner and Howard G. Buffett, Chairman and CEO of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, sign the photo exhibition “Bearing Witness”, a photographic mosaic of untold stories from around the world.

“Bearing Witness” is a selection of images that spans over three decades from 30 countries. A visual journey of moments in time that shows life amid chaos, the destruction, the human misery, and the resilience of those who got caught in the middle of it. Even in the middle of the conflict, life never stops but keeps going. Life goes on.

“Bearing Witness” spreads awareness and pursues changing stereotypes and raise the voice of the people being photographed. These are never just pictures, these are voices, these are messages, and these are testimonies that live forever.

“Behind my photographs there are people, who were forced to leave their homes and hopes, their families and memories behind and go search for a new, safe home. As nobody leaves their home unless they are forced to leave their homes”, said Muhammed Muheisen.

“At times, I find myself uncomfortable by the tragedies I’ve seen and photographed. When I am behind my lens, I remind myself of the importance of documenting what I am witnessing, and that those images can change hearts and minds. This is my emotional coping mechanism in real time”, said Howard G. Buffett.
